꽃은 꽃이어서 예쁘고
나무는 나무여서 아름답다.
물은 물이어서 시원하고
하늘은 맑고 높아서 시원하다.
자신이 가는 길에 평행선을 긋고
바르게만 갈 수 있다면
궤도에서 이탈하지만 않는다면
아프고 괴로운 불협화음은
없을 것 같은데-
자신이어서 예쁘게 꾸민다면
자신이어서 예쁘게 살 수 있을까.

Flowers are beautiful as they are flowers,
Trees are beautiful as they are trees.
The waters are cool as they are waters,
and the sky is crisp as it is high and clear.
If only we can draw parallel lines on our way
and just go straight along them,
without running off the track,
it seems no painful and tormenting dissonance
there would be-
If we can pretty ourselves up as it concerns ourselves,
can't we pretty our life up as it concerns no one else's but ours?
