서울을 벗어나면 내 눈엔 항상 오리가 보였다.
유유히 흐르는 강에서- 호수에서, 조그만 연못에서-
또 시골마을 어귀에서 평화롭게 행진하고 있었다.
내 마음에 있는 우리의 시골에선
각양각색의 오리들이 떼를 지어 놀고 있었다.
그들은 평화의 상징이었고, 자유로웠다.
물위에 유유히 떠다니는 모습이
한가하고 여유로운 삶의 무게를 느끼게 해주는 것 같다.
Whenever leaving Seoul, I could see ducks.
In a slowly flowing river- in a lake, or a little pond-
and at an entrance to a country village
they were marching at peace.
In our country in my mind
ducks of all sorts were playing in flocks.
They were the symbol of peace, and were free.
The picture of their drifting at ease on the water
seems to let me feel the weight of an easy and composed life.
